In November and December 2007 through January 2008, I had the pleasure
of taking the “Self Maximization” Basic & Advanced classes taught by Karla
Renee’ at The Acting Center. I had first heard about the class through the
Parks and Recreation catalog for Post Falls. At first, I was interested in
taking the class to further my knowledge and skills as a photographer from both
sides of the camera. After the first class, however, I quickly fell in
love with all the material and our instructor, Karla. She is such a sweet
woman with so much knowledge to share. She has a unique teaching style
that is fun, puts you at ease and encourages you to succeed. Karla comes
from a modeling background herself, as well as previous owner of a modeling
agency in CA.
The class covered such topics as: Face Angles & Body Shapes, Clothing Styles, How-To Makeup Applications for Glamour and Black & White Photography, Skincare, Posture & Runway Training, Stretching Exercises, and overall guidelines for a modeling Headshot, Resume, and Audition Tips.
By the end, Karla encouraged me to see where modeling would take me and quickly recommended me to her contacts in the industry. In March 2008, I became a model and it has truly been an exciting & refreshing twist to the norm. I have had the pleasure of working this past year as a live mannequin, 2 runway shows, posing for art classes, and print work opportunities. I would highly recommend taking classes from Karla if you are seriously interested in the Acting or Modeling Industry—you never know where it may lead!
